When making Purchases seek out products that are Fairtrade
Bring your own reusable bags, water bottles, coffee cups
Turn off lights & use power-strips for recharging- turn them OFF when not in use – reduce
Compost kitchen scraps – reuse
Save your left over foods in glass or ceramic containers (there are phthalates in plastic which are hazardous to your health)
Don’t buy disposable items (such as razors or regular toothbrushes)
Eat Less Meat – buy only pasture raised meat
Buy and use Rechargeable batteries
Ride a Bike or walk, take public transportation
Hang out your wash to air dry
Turn off dishwasher’s heated dry cycle
Plant trees
If you use Compact Fluorescent Bulbs- they use less electricity, but contain mercury make certain they are disposed of at hazardous trash collection sites
Use cloth napkins
Print on both sides of paper / or cut up paper to use to write shopping lists
Buy from local Farmers Markets
Buy in bulk, and use your own reusable containers
Have small families
Separate & Recycle trash
Turn off water while brushing your teeth
Give away & share resources instead of putting it in the landfill (Freecycle on the web)
Use Bioplastics (biodegradable, compostable) instead of petroPlastics
Use only biodegradable cleaning products for yourself & your home
Bring back prescription bottles for refilling
Turn off your TV and live your life
Use the power of the dollar: Write to manufacturers and tell them to use less packaging and bioplastics only!
Get your bills sent and pay electronically online to save paper
Be Political: Call or write to your representatives and tell them that you want the government to encourage corporations to “clean up” their businesses.
Be Peaceful: war wastes lives, natural resources and money that can be used for peaceful purposes
Educate yourself and others about these and other solutions
